Suzanne Fiol Rest in Peace

We just met Suzanne this year, but she was such a vivid life force and I can't believe she is gone at only 49.

Through sheer force of will she created Issue Project Room and grew it and grew it and brought a bunch of committed, creative people in to join her.  

IPR, also known as Issue, is a space dedicated to avant-garde performance, video, visual art and sound and music.  They will only continue to grow as everyone gets together in her memory.  Learn more about Issue: http://www.issueprojectroom.org/

Eliza Gilkyson

Heard this lovely, simple, homemade song on NPR the other day, and wanted to hear it again.  It's a "Requiem" for tsunami victims, used again for Katrina victims, written by a woman named Eliza Gilkyson and sung by her and her daughter.

A true requiem is a fixed-text mass for the dead; this song does not use the correct liturgical text so the name "requiem" is metaphorical only.  Gilkyson isn't the first to think of this; Brahms made up his own text too.

Pandora

A cool new music service that finds songs like ones you like and plays them for you.  My friend Marivi has done an amazing job helping build their WOM - of course it helps when the product is really good! 

I really like the name Pandora; I think innovators within corporations are often seen as Pandoras, which may be why there isn't more innovation in corporations...  More on that later, perhaps.
